Check out QueenS
Founded in 1683, Queens is assumed to have been named after the English
Queen, Catherine of Braganza. After a referendum on consolidation, Queens
Borough was established in 1898.
Queens today is the largest New York City borough. It sits on the far western
portion of Long Island, across the East River from Manhattan. Queens is home to
Flushing Meadows Corona Park, which hosts the annual
US Open tennis tournament, and
Queens Museum, known for the “Panorama”, a building-for-building model of
New York City. The
Kupferberg Center of the Arts is the largest multi-arts complex in the borough, with three auditoriums.
Queens has the second-largest and most diversified economy of all five
boroughs. It includes businesses across the health care, retail trade,
manufacturing, transportation, and film and television production sectors
– and our franchisees clean
them all!
...and Long Island
Long Island is an expansive island in southeastern New York, stretching
east from New York City. Not to include Queens, Long Island encompasses
Nassau and Suffolk counties, which cover the rest of Long Island with
a very different atmosphere and character.
Along its Atlantic coast are
Jones Beach State Park, Fire Island, and Montauk Point State Park, home to the late-1700s
Montauk Point Lighthouse and Museum. The island is home to the
Long Island Aquarium and
Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum, which is certified a National Treasure. On the east end, the North Fork
is home to wineries and the
Hamptons, with towns characterized by upscale homes, trendy restaurants and antiques shops.
The Long Island region is a magnet for commerce and industry and a leader
in technology development, manufacturing, trade transportation, and professional
and business services. It’s home to many corporate headquarters
and thousands of businesses – and our franchisees clean
them all!
