Honoring the American Dream on the 4th of July

Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019

Independence Day is here and all of us at Anago would like to take this opportunity to reflect on what this means to us. As this nation declared its independence, citizens of this great country were finally free to engage in the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness outlined in the Declaration of Independence.

For our Master and Unit Franchise Owners, the pursuit of happiness means running their own business and being their own boss. This is an American Dream come true for many and we are proud of all our Anago Master and Unit Franchise Owners. We encourage all Americans whose dream is to one day “be their own boss” to keep working hard, keep positive images of success, and keep the American Dream alive. And remember to take this day to enjoy family (both at home and at work), and we hope you catch a great fireworks display (please be safe with fireworks).

One of our newest Unit Franchise Owners, Keydy Arzu, is a perfect example of pursuing happiness under the freedoms and independence afforded by our great nation. Here is an excerpt of his story:

I arrived in the United States in 2001 for the American Dream from Honduras. During my process, I faced many challenges like learning the language, finding employment, and fitting in. I started working as a home attendant in New York and to be honest with you I did not like the job…it just wasn’t for me.

Then I worked in a supermarket as a cashier. I learned how to deal with pressure and people. One day, a Brazilian business owner hired me to clean some of the offices he had contracted. There I learned how to clean effectively and in a timely manner. That’s when I realized that type of work was for me. It was stress-free and I did not need to deal with a lot of people, but I had a mission and that was to one day have my own business.

In September 2017 I did just that. I started Emanuel Cleaning Services LLC. I did not graduate from college, however, I looked for people who did so they can see and join my mission. I met Edson Arzu who has an MBA and is now my husband, and Jonathan Elliz who is our Chief Finance Officer (CFO). Now, we have numerous cleaning contracts. I wanted to take a chance to start my own business because I wanted to take charge of my own destiny with God’s help. In 2019 we purchased a cleaning franchise from Anago of the Hudson Valley.

Congratulations to Keydy and all our Master and Unit Franchise Owners! We wish you all a happy and safe 4th of July celebration!
