The ghosts and goblins of Halloween are in the rearview mirror and the winds have gotten cooler this month. November is upon us and that means one thing. No, not Black Friday shopping – bite your tongue. We mean thankfulness.
Thanksgiving is the headline every November, but before we break bread and pass the gravy with friends and loved ones, we have another great opportunity to give thanks.
We celebrate Veterans Day on November 11. Please join Anago Cleaning Systems in pausing to remember, and to thank, the millions of veterans who have put so much of their own lives aside, to serve our nation. Some, of course, gave the ultimate sacrifice. All sacrificed time from family, friends, and all the everyday activities that we take for granted.
Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938.
Every Veteran’s Day Arlington National Cemetery holds an annual memorial service. The cemetery is home to the graves of over 400,000 people, most of whom served in the military.
If you know a veteran, please thank them this month. If you’ve lost a loved one who served as a veteran, please take time to remember their sacrifice. And give thanks for all you do have, in part because of their service.
