Each year, in February, we celebrate Black History Month to learn about the underlooked accomplishments and struggles of African-Americans throughout history. Because of the courageous fight of African-Americans to earn equality in America, it is our duty as citizens to be aware of these stories, the struggles, and the accomplishments.

Black history is American history. While we may not remember how many Amendments are in the Constitution (there are 27 by the way), it is important to know the often hidden history of a suppressed people in America. America comprises each of its citizens — all of us. But we’re at our greatest when we consider our similarities instead of our differences, if we let yesterday teach us about moving forward today, if we are members of one team.

At Anago, we celebrate the diversity of our entire team. We speak different languages, celebrate different holidays (while eating a variety of delicious foods), and we’ve all had our own unique life experiences. But we revel in the fact that we are one people, all moving toward the same goal. Let’s let Black History Month remind us to hold each other’s hands and walk forward together.
